DALLAS, Texas – July 19, 2013 – Associa Cares, the philanthropic arm of Associa, recently earmarked $100,000 to assist families affected by last month’s devastating floods in Calgary, Alberta, of which a $10,000 portion will be used as a one-time donation to Red Cross in Calgary.
More than seven inches of rain fell on the city over the course of 60 hours in late June. The floodwaters continue to subside throughout the province, leaving behind an oil spill, power outages and thousands of people displaced from their homes.
“As soon as we learned of the affects from this tragic event, we took immediate steps to try to help those in need,” said Joey Carona, president of Associa Cares. “We anticipate a significant number of requests from employees, homeowners and neighbors throughout the Calgary area.”
The Associa Cares disaster response program is designed to provide timely and prompt response to individuals in need, regardless of whether they live in an Associa-managed community. Associa Cares is accepting applications for financial assistance from homeowners.
