Associa Cares Gives Back to Three Families on Behalf of Houston Company

Mar 28, 2012

HOUSTON – March 28, 2012 – Associa Cares, the philanthropic arm of Associa, recently donated $4,500 to three families who fell victim to house fires on behalf of Houston Community Management Services.

Kenneth James Hunter Weakley received $2,000 from Associa Cares to assist with replacing lost items and rebuilding his Kentucky home as a result of the accident. The fire completely destroyed his home and car and killed his three pets. Weakley currently lives with relatives until further notice.

Randi and Clark Northup received $1,000 from Associa Cares to assist with fire damage to their home. The couple, along with their three children, is living in a camper outside of the home that was severely damaged by the fire. The Northups plan to rebuild their home as soon as possible.

The Hughes family received $1,500 from Associa Cares to assist with replacing lost items as a result of the fire. Melody Hughes, her husband and two-year-old daughter lost their apartment and all of their belongings in a fire that destroyed the entire building. They have since found a new apartment, but are still recovering from the loss of all of their belongings.

“We are happy to help these three families recover from their recent tragedies,” said Houston Community Management Services President and CEO John Pizetoski. “While no amount of money can make up for emotional damage a house fire can cause, it can help to repair and rebuild a home and rebuild lives.”

Associa Cares relies on volunteers from national and local committees to help identify people in both Associa and non-Associa managed communities affected by tragedies. John Black, committee chairman of the Associa Cares committee of Houston Community Management Services, notified Associa about the families and their losses.
