NOVI, Michigan – July 1, 2013 – Associa Cares, the philanthropic arm of Associa, recently donated relief funds to a local family in honor of Wayne-Westland Firefighter Brian Woehlke.
In May, local firefighter Brian Woehlke was tragically killed in the line of duty while battling an early morning fire. It was the first on-duty death in the 47-year history of the department. Woehlke was survived by his wife and baby daughter.
Associa’s Kramer-Triad manages six communities protected by the local Wayne-Westland Fire Department. Associa Cares placed a donation to the memorial fund for firefighter Woehlke to help his grieving family.
Associa Cares relies on volunteers from national and local committees to help identify people in both Associa and non-Associa managed communities affected by tragedies.
“Associa Cares was created to help families affected by tragedy, man-made or natural,” said Associa Senior Vice President Ron Duprey. “This was a tragic incident that affected the Wayne and Westland communities. We are thankful that the organization acted so quickly and was able to allocate these funds in memory of a great community leader.”
