HRW, Inc., an Associa company, informed Associa Cares of the family’s situation and nominated them for financial assistance.
Friday, July 6, the Triangle area experienced severe thunderstorms. The family’s home in Apex, North Carolina, was struck by lightning. After the fire department suppressed the house fire, a smoldering ember caught fire in the early morning setting the house on fire again. What was minimal damage turned into a total loss.
“Losing a home is an extremely difficult situation that this family unfortunately was forced to face,” said HRW President and CEO Cathy Wade. “While we never wish for these circumstances to come about, we are glad we were able to help the family in their time of need.”
Associa Cares relies on volunteers from national and local committees to help identify people in both Associa and non-Associa managed communities affected by tragedies.
