Honolulu, HI – October 3, 2018 – Associa Hawaii, the leading local community management company, partners with nonprofit organization, Friends of Shriners, to host the 20th annual golf tournament fundraiser to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children® — Honolulu and Associa Cares. Associa Hawaii and Friends of Shriners teamed up with the Kapolei Golf Club to host the tournament.
This year, 150 golfers from around Oahu joined local sponsors to raise more than $55,000. The day started with an exciting ball drop via helicopter from former Hawaii University football player and Carolina Panthers star, Kealoha Pilares, as well as live, silent and online auctions. George Hanzawa, owner of George’s Aviation, donated the helicopter service. The money raised will help children who need orthopedic services at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Honolulu.
“Friends of Shriners is honored to team up with Associa Hawaii and host this incredible event,” stated Donald “Zeke” Schmus, Friends of Shriners director and treasurer. “Our mission is to support the Honolulu Shriners Hospital and help them in their efforts to provide the best health care for the children of Hawaii. This event helps raise funds to assist those in need of medical services who might not be able to receive them otherwise. The outpouring of support from the community, volunteers, and participants is overwhelming and truly highlights the spirit of aloha. It has been an unbelievable 20th year celebration, and we look forward to many more in the future.”
“The Associa Hawaii team and the Friends of Shriners have worked unbelievably hard to orchestrate this year’s golf fundraiser,” stated Pauli Wong, Associa Hawaii president. “It was a great success and we raised more money for the Shriners Hospital and Associa Cares. Each year, we strive to make a bigger impact and we could not do it without the support of our community. I would like to send a special thanks to our volunteers, sponsors, and special guests including Keanu and Alisha Jones Cua, the eight year old patient ambassador and his mother, for representing Shriners Hospital. I am so proud to be a part of this amazing group as we look forward to next year.”
