Associa Cares Aids Two Virginia Families

May 23, 2012

FALLS CHURCH, Va. – May 23, 2012 – Associa Cares, the philanthropic arm of Associa, recently donated $3,000 to two Virginia families on behalf of Legum & Norman.

Salvadore Moran and Silvia Calderon received $1,500 after a fire destroyed their home March 24. The fire began in a house immediately next to their home. Most of the damage, however, is the result of water. The home has been deemed unfit for occupancy by the Fire Marshall.

Darrell Wilson received $1,500 after a fire broke out in his home March 24. The fire is believed to have started in the chimney flute. While no one was injured, the home sustained substantial damage and has also been deemed unfit for occupancy by the Fire Marshall.

“House fires are a major source of tragedy for families like the Morans and Wilsons,” said Legum & Norman President and CEO John Rhodes. “While no amount of money can make up for emotional damage a house fire can cause, it can help to repair and rebuild homes.”

Associa Cares relies on volunteers from national and local committees to help identify people in both Associa and non-Associa managed communities affected by tragedies. Legum & Norman first notified Associa about the families.
