RALEIGH, N.C. – August 15, 2013 – Associa Cares, the philanthropic arm of Associa, recently donated relief funds to North Carolina families who were in need of assistance following severe storms and flooding.
An afternoon storm resulted in a house fire when lightning hit two trees and then ignited the house. Luckily the homeowners were out of town, but the home and all belongings inside were a complete loss.
Just days later, flooding displaced 150 families in the Orange County area, Associa Cares made a donation to the local social services office. In both cases, team members from Associa’s HRW, Inc. made the national nonprofit aware of these families’ loss. Associa Cares relies on volunteers from national and local committees to help identify people in both Associa and non-Associa managed communities affected by tragedies.
“Associa Cares was created to help families affected by tragedy, man-made or natural,” said HRW President and CEO Cathy Wade. “While we don’t like to learn of instances like this, we are grateful to Associa Cares for appropriating these funds quickly to help our North Carolina homeowners in need.”
