Funds to Assist with Rebuilding Expenses
RICHMOND, Va. – February 3, 2011 – Community Group, an Associa company, with the help of Associa Cares, recently donated funds to Mehemet and Isabel Akpinar who lost their restaurant in a fire.
A three-alarm fire heavily damaged their family-owned restaurant, but thankfully the Akpinars were unharmed. The local fire department said the first units on the scene found heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof of the establishment and called for the second alarm to get more manpower on the scene on the cold, icy morning. A third alarm was needed to finally get the fire under control.
Thanks to Associa Cares, The Akpinars are able to begin the rebuilding process sooner than they had originally expected.
“It was a great pleasure being able help the Akpinars,” said Community Group President Scott Meardon. “Zorbas’s Restaurant is a key part of the neighborhood, and they are truly deserving of the help. I am glad Associa Cares was able to quickly arrange for this much needed aid and assistance.”
