Toronto, ON – September 14, 2018 – At the request of Maple Ridge Community Management (MRCM), an Associa company, Associa Cares has earmarked up to $10,000 to assist residents affected by the August 21st fire that hit 650 Parliament Street in Toronto.
The six-alarm, high-rise fire has displaced more than 1,500 Toronto residents. In an emergency effort by the city and the Red Cross, hundreds of residents have been housed in hotels and other temporary housing. Red Cross is also facilitating financial donations, while two other organizations, Community Matters Toronto and Community Corner, are collecting and distributing clothing and school supply donations.
WoodGreen Community Services, a founding United Way of Toronto member agency and one of the largest social service agencies in Toronto, is also coordinating accommodations, goods, and services for residents. The Associa Cares’ funds are being donated to WoodGreen for direct assistance to affected residents.
“The 650 Parliament Street building is not managed by Maple Ridge Community Management, but we understand the difficult process and frustration that a fire like this causes,” stated Michael Le Page, MRCM president. “MRCM, through Associa Cares, wanted to show our support and let the residents know that there are many resources out there to help and that the community is behind them.”
